Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a local webdesigner?
The Pretty Pea creates web sites for clients across the UK. If you’re local, it’s nice to meet in person but using the Internet, email, and the telephone
or skype, it’s possible to communicate effectively with clients in any location
Do you use templates?
Every website we deliver is hand designed for you to your specification. We guarantee that your website won't be the same as anyone elses.
How long does it take?
We can work extremely fast if required. If you have all your content ready to go we can have you up and running with a new website, email addresses and SEO
in less than 3 days (dependent on availability). It often takes a bit longer as we guide you through the design and content generation process.
Can I design my website?
We are happy to take on all, some or none of the design work. If you have a fixed idea in mind we can take your colours, layouts, fonts, logos etc. and place and create
a website to your specification (within reason). If you don't have a fixed idea we can talk it through and we'll come up with a suggested design for you.
How much will it cost?
There are several factors affecting the cost of your web site. These include how many pages there are, if you will sell products on your
website, the graphic work involved, and how interactive your future web site will be. As a guide, a very short website could be as cheap as £199. More complex websites
will cost a little more, why not get in touch for a free, no obilgation quote
We believe our pricing is very competitive for the service offered, please contact us if you'd like to discuss quotes/estimates
Gosh! That's not very much, why is it so cheap?
Our website design service offers excellent value for money. We believe in providing a good service at an affordable price. We can be cheaper than our competitors as
overheads are low, we work quickly and efficiently and we don’t rip you off!
Ouch! I thought it would be cheaper?
Our websites are handmade and uniquely designed for you, we take care of the process from start to finish and make sure your website conforms to current standards and is
appropriately optimised. It’s possible to make a website much more cheaply by
buying a ‘out of the box’ template and populating it or using a DIY service. However, these can look a bit homemade, are often identical to other websites and the SEO tends to be poor.
Maybe I'll design my own website?
We are happy to offer a "DIY assist" service, we can set you up with a template of your choice provide a hosting service to guide you through the minefield.
If you do decide to go it alone a great place to start is at W3 Schools where you can learn to code properly.
There's quite a minefield of information, if you are considering DIY website development then maybe you would like some training and support?
When do I pay?
If you’d like to commission a website we’ll write a clearly defined specification of the website and ask for a 50% deposit. Once the website is ready
we’ll ask you to make sure that everything is just as you’d like it before paying the balance
What should I put on my site?
That depends on your objectives. If you run a business you would include as much information about your products or services that your
customers would need to purchase from you. When you commission a website from The Pretty Pea we will provide you with a questionnaire designed
to help you think about your business and how you would like to project it through your website design and content
Why can’t I find my website with a search engine?
Once your site has been submitted to the top Search Engines they may take several weeks to find and list your website.
I already have a website, can you host it?
Yes, just give us a ring and we’ll explain the necessary steps. Sign-up for our managed hosting service and we'll take care of
your website for you, leaving you to take care of your business.
I've already registered a domain name and paid for hosting, can you design my website then use my host?
Yes, you can use any host you like. Once your website is finished we can send it to you or upload it to another host if you
provide the necessary details
